Bad PR day
“January 17, 1987 - Forsyth County, Ga. — March protesters heckle a bus carrying Atlanta civil rights leaders. (Steve Deal/AJC Staff)” In honor of the late Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, a white resident of the county planned a brotherhood march. When he cancelled the plans after receiving threats two white residents of nearby Hall County then took up the plans. Atlanta City Councilman Hosea Williams and others chartered a bus to join in. The marchers were met by a much larger group of white supremacists and sympathizers. Another march and massive media attention followed this one. A lot has changed in the county since then.

In memory of Mr. Steve Deal… happy we share a birthday
It makes my heart swell that today marks the 3rd annual Wangari Maathai day in Africa on my 33rd birthday. I am a hummingbird, are you?
